“Daniel Tschofenig, the current World Cup leader and Four Hills winner, is the man to beat in Zakopane as he will be looking for his fifth win of the season. One week after securing his career-first national title, Pawel Wasek (POL) will seek for his first World Cup podium in front of his home crowd.”

IBU World Cup in Ruhpolding, Germany

“Vebjoern Soerum (NOR) claimed victory in men´s 20Km individual event, and Lou Jeanmonnot (FRA) won gold in women´s 15km individual competition. The Relay and Mass Start events will take place during this weekend.”

Ski Mountaineering

Torino 2025 FISU World UNiversity Games

“On Thursday, 16 January, Ski Mountaineering made its debut in FISU Games history. Margot Ravinel (FRA) and Finn Elias Hosch (GER) won the women’s and men’s sprint racesrespectively, at Torino 2025.”

Alpine Skiing

“Marco Odermatt (SUI) claimed his fourth consecutive Giant Slalom race on the Adelboden course. Countryman Loic Meillard finished second, with Luca De Aliprandini (ITA) completing the podium in third place. In the Men´s Slalom, Clement Noel (FRA) took first place, followed by Lucas Pinheiro Braathen (BAR) and Henrik Kristoffersen (NOR).”

Bobsleigh

IBSF World Cup in ST. Mortiz, Switzerland.

“The team led by Olympic and World Champion Francesco Friedrich (GER), along with Matthias Sommer, Alexander Schüller and Felix Straub, claimed their victory of the season in 4-man bobsleigh event. The German team is also leading the overall standings in this category.”

17-years-old Flora Tabanelli (ITA) claims the first World Cup victory of her career in Kreischberg, Austria.

“With multiple Junior World Championships titles and Youth Olympic Games gold medals to her credit, Tabanelli now leads the overall Park & Pipe World Cup standings. Anni Karave finished second, becoming the first Finnish woman to earn a World Cup podium in FIS Freeski History.”

Biathlon

France dominated the podiums at the BMW IBU World Cup in Oberhof

“Paula Botet won the 7.5km Sprint, and Quentin Fillon Maillet took gold in the 10km Sprint. They secured silver in the Single Mixed Relay. Lou Jeanmonnot won the women’s Pursuit, Sturla Holm Laegreid the men’s. Sweden claimed gold in the 4×6 Mixed Relay, France took silver.”

FIS Freestyle Junior World Ski Championship, Almaty, Kazakhstan

“From January 7th to 11th, young athletes aged 14 to 20 will showcase their skills in freestyle skiing and snowboarding. Leo Crozet (FRA) won a silver medal in Men’s Moguls, an event dominated by Japanese athletes. Matyas Kroupa (CZE) claimed first place in Men’s Dual Moguls, while Anastassiya Gorodko won the women’s category.”

FIS Freestyle Big Air World Cup in Kreischberg, Austria

“The men´s competition will begin with qualifications on Saturday , 11th January, followed by both men´s and women´s finals in the evening. 17-years-old Flora Tabanelli (ITA) leads the Big Air World Cup standings, having secured second place at Klagenfurt competition last week.”

FIS World Cup Alpine Skiing

“The Women´s Downhill and Super-G competitions are scheduled for the 11th and 12th January in St. Anton (AUT). The Adelboden resort in Switzerland will host the Men´s events of Slalom and Giant Slalom during this same weekend.”

“The Women´s Foil World Cup will take place from 10th to 12th January in Hong Kong. During the same weekend, the Men´s Foil World Cup will be held in Paris. Tommaso Marini (ITA) is currently ranked first in FIE men´s standings, while Alice Volpi (ITA) is ranked second – and the top European – in the women´s category.”

The Norwegian Johannes Klaebo won his fourth FIS Tour de Ski in Val di Fiemme

“Klaebo triumphed in both the Sprint and Overall categories, equialling Dario Cologna´s (SUI) record of four Tour de Ski titles. In the Women´s competition, Therese Johaug (NOR) won the 10 km Mass Start Free to secure her fourth overall Tour de Ski victory.”

United States triumphs over Finland in 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship Final

“Finland dominated the opening stages of the match, but an overtime goal gave the United States the Gold Medal. Czechia claimed Bronze Medal after a shootout victory against Sweden.”

“The Austrian athlete claimed victory in the second FIS Ski Jumping World Cup event of 2024/2025 women´s season. Nika Prevc, Crystal Glove winner, finished third, while Katharina Schmid (GER) secured second place to take the lead on the Overall standings. “

“The women´s Alpine skiing Giant Slalom and Slalom competition will take place in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia. Camille Rast (SUI) currently leads both the Slalom overall rankings, and Federica Brignone (ITA) holds the top spot in Giant Slalom ranking.”

The FIS Freeski World Cup starts the new year with a new Big Air venue in Klagenfurt

“The third Big Air competition of the 2024/25 will take place on January 3-4 at Klagenfurt´s Woerthersee Stadium, Austria. Tormod Frostad (NOR) leads the men´s rankings, while Mathilde Gremaud (SUI) tops the women´s standings.”

Coop FIS Cross-Country World Cup in Val di Fiemme, Italy

“Sprint Qualification and Final will take place on January 3. The 20km Skiathlon on Saturday and 10km Mass Start on Sunday. Harald O. Amundsen (NOR) leads both the overall and distance ranking and Johannes H. Klaebo (NOR) is ranking first in Sprint and second overall.”

Inssbruck is the next stop of FIS Ski Jumping World Cup

“Third event of Four Hills Tournament will take place on January 3 and 4 in Austria. Daniel Tschofenig (AUT) leads the ranking, with countrymen Jan Hoerl and Stefan Kraft in second and third position. Pius Paschke (GER) is second in World Cup overall standings.”

Three European teams in IIHF World Junior Championship

“Sweden will play against Finland, and Czechia will face USA on January 4. In the Relegation game, Germany secured a 4-3 victory over Kazakhstan. This win ensures Germany remains in the top pool for next year and send the Kazakhs down to Division I-A for 2026.”

“Lena Duerr (Germany) and Katharina Liensberger (Austria) completed the podium in Women´s Slalom. Meanwhile, in Bormio (Italy), Fredrik Moeller (Norway) dominated the Men´s Super G and Alexis Monney (Suitzerland) emerged victorious in the Downhill event.”
