Montenegrin judoka Jusuf Nurković electrified the crowd with his golden performance in the men’s half-lightweight under-66kg category. Competing on home soil, Nurković showcased his mastery of the sport, executing precise throws and dominant groundwork to claim victory and send the local fans into jubilation.
Iceland shooter Ásegir Sigurgeirsoon demonstrated his shooting prowess by clinching gold in the men’s 10m air pistol event. Sigurgeirsoon’s precision and focus were unmatched as he hit target after target with pinpoint accuracy, securing a memorable victory for Iceland and adding another gold to their medal tally.

ABOUT MONTENEGRO 2019

In 2019, for the first time in the event’s history, Montenegro was the host nation of the GSSE. Nine nations were welcomed to Montenegro for the competition. Athletes competed for gold across 10 sports, including: tennis, swimming, and athletics . The 2019 edition continued the tradition of the GSSE, emphasising sportsmanship, unity, and the celebration of athletic achievements among the small states of Europe. The motto for this edition of the GSSE was “How Big We Are”.
