Spanish skier Laia Selles Sanchez stunned spectators with her spectacular performance in ski-mountaineering. With precise turns and lightning-fast speeds, she dominated the competition, securing three consecutive golds and earning praise for her remarkable talent.
Hungarian speed skater Dominik Major impressed fans with his incredible performance. His breathtaking speed won him the gold medal three times. He is joined in the history of this event by his teammate Dora Szigeti who claimed four medals, two of them gold. Their remarkable performances cement Hungary as one of the strongest teams in speed skating.
After 177 medals were awarded across 13 sports, France ended up at the top of the medal table – with seven gold, six silver and four bronze medals. The host nation ended up in second place with a total of 21 medals. This marks the end of an event full of excitement and athletic prowess.

ABOUT FRIULI-VENEZIA GIULIA 2023

From 21st to 28th January 2023 the Olympic flag hosted by the region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, gave the opportunity to over 1,200 young athletes to approach and taste the experience of an international stage and the thrills of the Olympic flame. Competitions took place across 59 events in 14 different winter sports hosted in 12 of the great venues of the area, as well as the Planica Nordic Centre in Slovenia and the Eissport Arena stadium in Austria.

Italy’s hosting of the first winter EYOF in 1993 saw the return of the Olympic torch after 30 years for this edition of the festival. Following the original values founding the event, the 2023 winter EYOF focused on fostering a better world through sport education, friendship, fair play, and healthy living, while adhering to the ideals of sustainability.
