Bosnian judoka Larisa Cerić stole the show with her precise and calculated movements in the women’s +78kg judo final. Her mesmerizing technique, characterised by finesse and agility, earned her the silver medal, the first European Games medal for her country.
Serbian wrestler Stevan Andria electrified the crowd with his triumphant triumph in the men’s freestyle wrestling 57kg category. Displaying unparalleled strength and technique, he dominated his opponents en route to clinching gold, a momentous achievement in his illustrious career.
Nino Salukvadze and Tsotne Machavariani etched their names into the European Games history by being the first mother and son duo podium. The two Georgians won a bronze medal in the 50m pistol event. In 2020, Nino made history by becoming the first woman to compete in 9 Summer Olympics.

The Minsk 2019 European Games made history as the second edition of the multi-sport event, welcoming over 4,000 athletes from 50 nations who competed across 15 sports. Notably, these games distinguished themselves by incorporating new disciplines like 3×3 basketball, providing a platform for emerging sports to shine. The event stood out for its emphasis on sustainability, utilising eco-friendly initiatives in venue construction and operations. Additionally, the opening ceremony showcased Belarusian culture and history, captivating a global audience. Minsk 2019 successfully blended sportsmanship with a commitment to environmental responsibility, setting a positive precedent for future sporting events.
