Europe leaves its mark on the World Figure Skating Championships in Prague

France, Belgium, Germany and Estonia headline a brilliant weekend at the world championships

Prague. The World Figure Skating Championships delivered an outstanding weekend for European athletes, who once again demonstrated the continent’s high competitive level at one of the most demanding events on the international calendar.

In the men’s category, France’s Adam Siao Him Fa produced one of the most notable performances of the championships, placing among the leaders after the short programme and remaining in medal contention for much of the competition. The French skater once again showcased his power in the jumps and his trademark stage presence, confirming his status as one of Europe’s leading figures on the circuit.

Alongside him, Estonia’s Aleksandr Selevko was one of the weekend’s major surprises. His excellent performance in Prague allowed him to move into the top positions during the opening phase, underlining the continued rise of Estonian skating at elite world level.

In the women’s event, Belgium’s Nina Pinzarrone once again delivered an outstanding performance, securing a place on the world podium and confirming her international progression. The Belgian skater showed remarkable technical consistency and great competitive maturity on one of the most demanding stages of the season.

Meanwhile, in pairs, Europe once again asserted its dominance thanks to the gold medal won by Germany’s Minerva Fabienne Hase alongside Nikita Volodin, in a performance that reinforced Europe’s strength in this discipline.

Ice dance also provided further European success with the historic triumph of the Franco-Canadian duo Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron, who were crowned world champions after an impeccable free dance. Cizeron’s performance once again placed Europe at the summit of the international scene.

The overall outcome of the weekend offers a highly positive picture for European sport, with strong representation across virtually every discipline and several standout names already emerging as key protagonists for the next international cycle.
