ABOUT PARIS 2003
Paris, France, hosted the 2003 EYOF from 28 July to 2 August, making it the first edition held under the new name “European Youth Olympic Festival.” The French capital welcomed over 2,500 athletes from 48 nations, competing across 10 sports, including gymnastics, handball, and athletics. Paris 2003 stood out for its highly professional organisation and state-of-the-art venues, many of which were later used in France’s bids for the Olympic Games. The event helped promote the Olympic spirit among youth and reinforced the city’s role as a major European sports destination. The French athletes excelled at home, contributing to a high medal tally that boosted national pride.
