Camilla Borsotti (ITA), Eva-Maria Brem (AUT), and Anna Fenninger (AUT) dominated the girls’ alpine skiing events at the 2005 festival. Borsotti medalled in all her events, taking silver in both the girl’s slalom and giant slalom, along with gold in the girl’s super-G. Brem secured gold in the giant slalom and silver in the super-G, while her compatriot Fenninger earned bronze in both the slalom and super-G, showcasing a strong performance from the trio.
Hungarian skater Bernadett Heidum made her mark in short track speed skating. She claimed silver in the girls’ individual 500m competition and again in the 1500m. Heidum was also part of the historic Hungarian girls’ relay team that won gold in the 2000m team relay event, marking a significant achievement for Hungary in the sport.
The Czech Republic’s boys’ ice hockey team confidently claimed gold after delivering strong performances against formidable opponents like Switzerland and Russia. Building on their success from previous EYOF editions, they showcased their skill and determination, solidifying their position as a top team in the competition.

ABOUT MONTHEY 2005
The 2005 Winter EYOF took place in Monthey, Switzerland, a small but well-equipped town in the Swiss Alps. This edition continued the EYOF tradition of showcasing Europe’s top young talent, with competitions across alpine skiing, snowboarding, and other winter sports. Monthey’s alpine setting offered challenging courses for skiing events, and the Swiss hospitality ensured that the festival was a success both on and off the slopes and skating rinks.
